Dining at Bo’a Vida

We pride ourselves in providing fresh and healthy meals that are always sourced locally and as organically as possible. With the help of our local staff, we prepare a variety of dishes, mostly influenced by Indonesia’s large selection of herbs and spices that we are sure you will love. From fruits and vegetables to local meat or fish, we can guarantee your taste buds will be in for a treat.

Savouring flavours with a breathtaking view

Guest can choose to dine in our restaurant perched on top of the cliff, overlooking Boa beautiful white sand beach. For those seeking a more intimate setting, meals can also be enjoyed privately at your house. Our newest houses – Rumah Sine, Re, Nit and Suti feature open sitting areas where romantic dinners can be served in complete privacy, surrounded by nature and the sound of the ocean.

Every dining experience, whether in the restaurant or at your house, celebrates simple, freshly prepared dishes that delight the senses.

We often recommend starting the day with fresh coconut water or jamu – a traditional indonesian royal drink, made with ginger, lemon and curcuma, long valued for its anti inflamatory properties. Breakfast at Boa Vida focuses on nourishing ingredients that provide sustained nergy, with a balance of proteins and healthy fats.

Guest can begin with eggs served in their preferred style, paired with avocado and our homemade slow fermented wholemeal bread. Afterwards, lighter and sweeter options are available, including that fruit bowls topped with homemade coconut yogurt enriched with natural probiotics, smoothies with chia seeds, organic cacao nibs and our homemade granola.

And of course, no stay at Bo’a Vida would be complete without trying our famous homemade banana bread. We also serve comforting bowls of porridge gently infused with warming spices. For sweetness, we rely on fruits, rotenese wild honey or a touch of bown sugar from Lontar trees of the island – keeping refined sugar off the menu.

For lunch and dinner, we usually provide two options per meal. Our menus change regularly and are inspired by seasonal vegetables and by the catch brought in daily by local fishermen.

We take pride in catering to all dietary needs, including a rich selection of gluten free, vegan and vegetarian dishes, ensuring everyone can enjoy a diverse satisfying meal.

Our restaurant in primary reserved for our in house guests and their friends. However, during quieter periods and when space allows, we are happy to welcome small external groups to share the Boa Vida dining experience.

A holistic approach to food

At Bo’a Vida food is an essential part of the experience – nourishing the body, supporting wellbeing and connecting guests with the natural abundance of Rote Island.

We prepare most of our ingredients from scratch, crafting every dish with care and attention to detail. Our menu blends Indonesian and Western cuisine, using mostly locally sourced ingredients and produce from our own garden. We produce our own organic eggs, and raise free range chickens and ducks. Whenever weather permits, we grow our leafy greens on our premises.

In our kitchen we bake our own whole meal bread and prepare many staples in house, from our moringa latte powder and flaxseed wraps to fresh coconut and almond milk made daily.  We also  make our own hummus. Our bread, muffins, banana bread and cookies are available in gluten or sugar free options as well.

For guests who wish to follow a more specific nutritional approach, we are also happy to adapt our meals. If they need specific low calorie and anti inflamatory diet we advise to contact us in advance.

If you are curious about the vegan options we offer, we invite you to dive into our latest blog post. We detailed our plant based dishes all designed to support a healthy lifestyle.
